We All have sensory needs that we experience through our senses of touch, taste, smell, hearing and sight. But we also have two sensory Motor systems, our proprioceptive and vestibular systems which help us orient our bodies and move and explore in the environments around us. Sensory tools can help in providing our bodies with sensory input that can act to stimulate, engage, reassure, and calm the body.
A Sensory diet is an individualized plan to help address any sensory delays or challenges. Its important to address those needs before they get out of control.
If you want to learn more about the sensory systems or need some advice, try your local occupational therapist.
